Erik Fridberg was eliminated by Jamie Gold in the 2006 WSOP main event. This was an all-in pre flop hand with Erik flipping over JJ and Jamie held QQ. On the river Jamie hit another Q making a set while the rest of the board where blanks for both players.
If you would to watch the WSOP Final table you can now watch it live on ESPN PPV. You can order it online or you can order it from your local ppv provider. The broadcast will cost $24.95 for the entire World Series of Poker main event final table.
Dan Nasif was beat by Jamie Gold very early in the main event final table broadcast. Nasif had AK against Gold who held 22. The flop came 2,3, 5 and Nasif went all in and Gold called with a set of 2’s. Nasif never hit a 4 which would have won him the hand and was eliminated in 9th place and recieving $1,566,858 of the 2006 WSOP Prize Pool.
I would really like to thank Bill Rini for covering our blog again. He had a couple comments on the blog and one was he wanted to know the best way to bust out of a tournament. I would have to say the best possible time is to bust out on the bubble. (If you want maximum dissapointment) At least when you bust out first you can convince yourself in your mind that you had no chance anyway…. But what better time then busting out on the bubble when you know where so close but also so far from making any money. It has happened to most poker players (including me) and I would have to think it happened to our biggest blog fan Bill Rini. So Bill when is the best time to bust out of a tournament? (If you ever do?!?) I would like to know from a professional player… Maybe we could even make this a carnival post and get even more people involved in this riveting poker subject.
First out poker will become a blog all about poker. Our first idea of being the first out at the world series of poker will have to wait….maybe 2007? But we will have updates on the 2006 world series of poker. We will also mention great online poker promotions. We also want to help improve your texas hold-em game and will have strategy and much more. Check back often as we will continue updating this blog to really make it a great resource for any poker player.
Check out here we will have daily updates of the WSOP 2006 Main Event. It will start on July 28,2006 and will go till August 10th.
Nothing has changed with the same idea and me calling it 2.0… Help me be the first player out in the 2006 World Series of Poker. Check out the Ebay Auction.
I am looking to play in the world series of poker main event and become the first player out. Many players have tried to get coverage but I am hoping I will be able to succeed with this idea. I have gotten many great emails/comments from people telling me that they hope I get the sponsorship:
“What an amazing idea. Good luck.”
“Nice idea….good luck trying to get a sponsor” - I think thats a positive one…
“I’ll bet a thousand dollars this guy doesn’t get anyone to sponsor him.” - This guy is pretty confident I am not getting a sponsor. Willing to put 1k on it….
I want to thank Bill Rini for blogging about this site on his poker blog. He has a great poker blog that has lots of commentary on his poker play, vacations and much more. I thought I would return the favor and blog about his site as he did that for mine. I like his title about first out poker, ” The Worst $10,000 You Could Ever Spend”…it’s definitely catchy.
Bill’s Points:
1. “Now, the second problem I have with this is that the seller can’t possibly guarantee he’ll be anything close to the first person out. Why? Well because there are FOUR FIRST DAYS!!! Day one is broken down into A, B, C, and D so if you bust on Day 1 in groups B, C, or D you are certainly not the first to bust. And technically, even the first person to bust in group A isn’t really the first person to bust out since groups B, C and D haven’t even played a hand yet.”
Good Point Bill +1. You make a good point here as I thought about that also. But nothing a $20 to the right person couldn’t handle. Me +1
2. “I’m wondering if the promoter understands that by selling it as a sponsorship he’s going to be creating a taxable event which he will need to pay taxes on.“
Semi-Good Point Bill +1/2. I think that if an advertiser is willing to put up some money for the sponsorship I could put down some money for taxes. Like you said, “…he’s in it for him, not you. Most successful marketing relationships are built on the marketer promoting the product. ” So now we both are in it for something. Me +1.
“The one good thing about this though is that if he does find a sponsor, I’m going to have a lot of material to blog about“
Bill +2. This is my favorite part of the whole blog. Do you promise to give me more coverage? And I think I may have a bit more material to write about as I would be going to the WSOP to lose! Me +1!
Bill’s Total Points: 2.5
First Out Poker Total Points: 3
Looks like I won that round. For the record, there were more points that Bill made but nothing very interesting and I think I got the bigger points.
